Ton v Old Penarthians

Tonyrefail RFC extends a warm welcome to the players and supporters of Old Penarthians for today's game at Tylcha Fawr. It is only a month since the teams met and on the day our visitors were winners by 18 - 13 in a close a game which was disrupted by a possible serious injury to a home team player. Thankfully it turned that the lad involved was ok apart from concussion and a stiff neck. They are currently two places below us in the league with two games to play so the outcome of this game will have a big influence on placings at the end of the season.
Ton's last game was at home against Wattstown and those of us who were there had the biggest smiles at the end of the game as the boys turned a twenty three point deficit around to win with a scorching, length of the field try, in injury time. That was one of the stand out games of the season alongside beating Caerphilly and Llantwit Major and a single point loss against Cefn Coed when we had three yellow cards. It just shows what Ton are capable of when the coaches are able to select from a full compliment of players. Unfortunately during last week's game Luke Rual and Matthew Davies had to leave the field with injuries that needed hospital treatment. Luke had fourteen stitches in an eye cut and Matthew needed an operation to re-set a dislocated shoulder. We wish them both a speedy recovery.
As far as today's game goes it looks like the weather will again be good so hopefully we can carry on from where we left off last week. A win today will secure a mid table spot and leave us close enough to next weeks opponents Tylorstown to make for an interesting game. Good luck to both sides.
