  Tonyrefail 40 - 5 Glyncoch

 

 

                                            After two hard fought loses against top of the league opponents in the last few weeks Ton supporters were hoping for some league points in this game against lowly Glyncoch and the team did not disappoint but it was not all plain sailing. Ton started well forcing the visitors to concede two early penalties which Garreg Lewis put over and this was followed up with two well worked tries to give Ton a 16-0 lead with half an hour gone. Glyncoch were not prepared to give up and when a penalty kick gave them good field position they drove from the ensuing line out to score, for what was to be, their only points of the game. 

                                          With two tries in the first half and Ton looking to be the stronger side, supporters were probably crossing their fingers, hoping for another two and the win, to consolidate their league position and they did not have long to wait for the team's third try which came two minutes after the restart. In fairness to the visitors they upped their game and were more competitive. Ton found it harder to break them down and with the referee penalising them numerous times at the breakdown they struggled to find their rhythm for a period but they continued to play a fast paced game, moving the ball wide at every opportunity. This proved to be the visitor's undoing and in the last ten minutes they were out on their feet and Ton ran in three more tries to give them a fine win and five league points.

                                           This was another fine performance by Ton,maintaining their high level performances over the last few weeks. With the added support of some very experienced players who have returned to Ton colours things are looking good for the side. Try scorers for Ton were Sam Christopher(4) Lewis Crabbe and Kieron Hill, with two conversions for Lewis Williams and two penalties for Garreg Lewis.
